Glass and Metal

Gold locket on a marble surface with decorative items

In several of our collections, glass and metal are brought together in carefully constructed objects such as frames, lanterns, jewellery boxes, mirrors and wall cabinets. Each piece is made by hand, using traditional soldering techniques that require precision, focus and a steady rhythm. The process isn’t rushed, and machines aren’t involved — only simple tools and skilled hands.

We use different types of metal, including zinc and brass, and often choose raw or untreated materials. This gives the final product a more honest and tactile appearance. It also brings out the contrast with the glass, which is cut and fitted by hand. Every glass panel is joined to the metal frame using visible solder seams. These lines aren’t hidden or polished away. Instead, they show where parts come together, how the piece was built. It gives each item a distinctive, personal quality.

The people who make these objects work in small workshops, often continuing techniques that have been used for generations. While the method has roots in older industries, it’s still very much alive today, passed on to younger makers who refine it in their own way. By working with them, we help keep this craft relevant and active.

What makes this collection stand out is the balance between structure and detail. Every frame is adjusted by hand. Every corner is shaped with care. It’s not about making things look perfect — it’s about making them feel considered. Whether it’s a jewellery box, a cabinet or a photo frame, each item is designed to be part of everyday life. Practical, understated and made to last.
